Sponsor a Well
Help Gloria Jean’s Coffee Stafford Heights drill a well in this region.
For several generations, family groups have walked between 3 to and 4 kilometres to collect water from an old open well, with poor quality water. Well-walks happen at least twice a day; the kids have to be excused from school to help; it is very disruptive. Even small children accompany the family groups, each one carrying a tiny jar of water on the head, or in their hands. As children grow older and stronger, their burdens are increased.
Engineers have identified an ideal drilling location which will deliver clean water’ free of contaminants thanks to modern well-drilling technology. These Modern Wells are sealed from the water table all the way to the surface, which does not allow contaminants such as bacterial or viral organisms easy access to the source, as can happen with traditional open wells.
Let’s keep the kids well hydrated, and in the classroom, so they have the best chance to break the cycle of poverty.
